Inauguration Day!

About a week ago, on January 20th, 2021, was inauguration day! What a historical day for America! The day president elect Joe R. Biden Jr. was sworn into being the president and Kamala Devi Harris was sworn in as the vice president! Kamala Harris made history the day Joe Biden won the election. She is the first women vice president and the first vice president from an African American and Indian descent. It was a historical day. So, we had watched the entire inauguration, start to finish, from 10:00 am all the way up through the very end and it was very exciting!

In the morning, we had turned on the TV and started watching. At the time they had only started talking about the inauguration and when it would start and when each event would start.

While the news went over what time each event would start, we decided to go to run to the store to grab a cake to celebrate! We got home just about 10 minutes before Kamala Devi Harris was sworn in as the vice president of 2021 - 2025. Me, my mom, and my dad had been so excited to be watching the inauguration! It was finally time for Kamala Harris to be sworn in and take her oath! It is so exciting to know that America was receiving its first female vice president! History was made! After Kamala Devi Harris took her oath, it was president elect Joseph Robinette Biden Jr’s. turn! Yay! It must have been hard for president Biden to have been taking over the responsibility of the country at a time like now during COVID-19. There was so much to fix and so much to mend. And obviously, not everyone was happy that former president Donald Trump didn’t come back for a second term, which we witnessed from the mob of Trump supporters at the Capitol building. So, it’s a time where Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have to work together to bring peace and unity to our very divided nation! Which is going to be a hard, but possible thing to do!

After watching president Biden and vice president Kamala Harris be sworn in by oath, there were a lot of speeches, of course the new president's speech, poetry, and more. After all the great speeches, the president followed the tradition of going to the Arlington Cemetery in, obviously, Arlington VA. There awaited for him former president Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, former president George Bush and Laura Bush, former president Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, and so many other people. When he finally arrived at the Cemetery they had the wreath laying ceremony which was in honor of all the soldiers who are represented by the Tomb of the Unknown. It is basically a ceremony where the new president is showing the country that he celebrates Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, and all the soldiers.

There were so many more events after that, like walking into the white house and so much more, but I couldn’t possibly tell you about all of them!
